What does a warm frame offer?
As much as 80% of the energy loss through a window occurs at its edge. Warm Edge products aim to minimise this energy loss. Warm Edge technology refers to the edge design of double, triple or quadruple glazing units, which conduct less heat or cold than conventional windows and standard double glazing units. Standard double glazing or sealed double glazing units are constructed with an aluminium spacer that keeps the glass separate.
However, aluminium is highly conductive and also has an extremely high thermal energy loss. In comparison, double-glazed windows fitted with a warm spacer have a higher internal edge temperature by up to 65%. Which helps to improve the thermal efficiency of the window and reduce the risk of condensation. The warm edge also significantly reduces the temperature difference between the centre and edge of the unit and reduces heat loss (or heat gain) at the outer edge of the window by up to 94%.
Making a real contribution to the environment, this heat saving can help reduce heat consumption and air conditioning requirements. Which reduces carbon emissions and saves money on fuel bills. Warm frame technology can also help reduce condensation on a sealed unit by up to 70%.
This moisture reduction virtually eliminates the risk of mould growth and potentially harmful bacteria. This is important given the increasing number of people suffering from respiratory diseases such as asthma.
